Admired Australia

“So thio, you’re the closest one. You’re from Indonesia, right?”

“yep”

“Tell us. What do you know about Australia?”

(extremely surprise!) “emmmm….. Australia was first time … mmm… first time ….” (try to remember that single word)

“discover?”

“yeah, discovered by … mmm … by … jjja…” (try to remember that guy’s name, not retarded!)

“james cook?”

“yeah, james cook”

“and?”

“and…” (thinking a bit while) “that’s it!” (smile)

Phew, what a lame me. but that was a true story. I was once asked by my teacher about Australia since I was the only one that came from the closest neighbor from Australia. while the rest of the class was came from Europe and around china. surprising isn’t? I really didn’t know anything about australia, which is a lovely country where I’ve been studying till recent time.

And it was true that Australia wasn’t on my list of country which I consider as a great one. I didn’t know about australia (well except for the common knowledge such as kangaroo, koala, and aborigine) I even never think about australia. worst, I was scared to australia. mainly because at that time the bad image that I had is caused by unfriendly relationship between my country and australia.

Anyway, the first time I got here, it wasn’t that pleasant as well. I was being interrogated by a security after I passed on the immigration check. Hell ya, he wanted to see me my passport, which make not much sense because I just through the immigration desk. He asked me on what occasion I came to australia. then I told him that I am student and I came with my father which not long after that, my father checked me out what happen to me with this security guard. kinda weird, isn’t? why only me that this security asked ? but it wasn’t so bad anyway, he looked professional as a security by not treat me as a criminal on the first place. after all, good for my english practice :)

continue…

then my journey starts. I’ve got to see many different things which I’ve never seen before. They all amazing. so, this is Australia, eh? quite impressive. AWESOME!! everything that I experienced here was wonderful and make me more and more love this country. To recapitulate all my astounding, this country is… unique!! that’s what make it different and make me fall for it.

the food (lemington, vegemite, anzac – ok, they aint exactly food, but we can eat them though. especially vegemite lol ), the people (they’re nice and I’m still wandering why all aussie girls are pretty? hem..), the animal (kangaroo, koala, and the most deadly spider in the world live here), the flag (amazingly the only country that includes constellation in its flag. and its crux!! my favourite!), the location (dude, its in southern hemisphere!), the sight (well, so much better comparing to my country), the people’s name (why do many Australians people has unusual name?), and the coolest thing is … the accent!!! yay!! I could get easily impressed by OZ people with OZ accent. how they speak, man, you can’t say… it looks like british, but its not. it definitely not american. so, what it is? mate… its aussie!!! :) ) ROCK ON!! I wanna have that accent in me, but still need guru then ^_^.

so, there I go. my first visit to aussie, and I never know that I will like the country so much. Many times I’m thinking, those people that were born in aussie were the luckiest one. I never love country before. the only country that I love is my motherland, Indonesia. and the only reason I love it is because I spend half of my life there. Although, sometimes I feel not too comfortable there. but it doesn’t mean I stuck to love her. part of my blood is her, that’s why I love her so much. just like loving your mother. Another place that I love is Makkah. well, obviously because there is the most beautiful building in the world, Ka’bah.

anyway, back to Aussie. Aussie has become one of my gretast experience I’ve ever had. I’m very grateful I’ve got a chance to come to Australia. i wanna do something real for Australia, but I don’t know what… yet…
